Spring Break Training

An important period for player development and team preparation heading into the season.

Overview

Spring break is an important period for player development and team preparation. The focus is on building skills, establishing routines, and strengthening team cohesion heading into the season.

Spring training during this time may include a mix of local practices, extended training sessions, and team activities. In some years, there may be exploration of an optional travel-based training opportunity organized by and funded by individual families. If that occurs, it would be clearly communicated in advance and participation would be optional.

Guiding Principles

Regardless of format, the guiding principles for spring break training remain the same:

Value

The experience should meaningfully support player development and team readiness

Equity

All players will have access to meaningful training opportunities

Consistency

Preparation during this time sets the tone for the season

Respect

Planning will be mindful of family schedules and commitments

All players, regardless of participation in any optional travel component, will have access to structured training and coaching during spring break.

Typical Spring Break Training Schedule

Days
1-2
Optional Practices / Travel Window
Early Spring Break

Optional training sessions focused on individual development, small group work, and getting extra reps. This window is also when any parent-led spring training travel should occur. Families who choose to organize travel should plan within these dates to avoid conflicts with required team activities. The Boosters do not provide any travel.

Days
3-5
Required Practices
Late Spring Break

Full team practices focused on preparation for the season, including team defense, hitting, pitching, and game situations. Attendance is expected. If a player misses during this window, they may need to make up time or will be behind in preparation.

Notes

  • Exact dates and times will vary year to year and will be communicated directly to players
  • Optional days are encouraged for players who want additional reps and preparation
  • Required days are a critical part of team readiness heading into the first games
  • Spring break practices lead directly into the start of the season and the first scheduled games

Practice Schedule Overview

Practice times and locations depend on gym availability, turf access, and weather conditions.

Where to Find the Schedule

The most current practice times and locations are always shared directly with players through team communication channels. Players are responsible for checking regularly and staying informed.

Practice Structure

Practice times reflect facility access windows. A more detailed breakdown of how time is used, including hitting, fielding, and pitching, and how players are grouped will be shared by coaches. Practices may take place in multiple locations, including different gyms or turf spaces, depending on availability.

Attendance Expectations

Players are expected to attend all required practices unless there is a conflict communicated in advance.

If a player needs to miss or leave early:
  • Communicate directly with the coach ahead of time
  • Provide a clear reason

Consistency, effort, and reliability are critical. Playing time and roles are earned through consistent participation and commitment.

Additional Team Activities

Throughout the season, there may be optional team activities such as community service events or team outings. These opportunities are designed to build team connection and are communicated directly to players.

Participation expectations, supervision details, and any associated costs will be clearly communicated in advance.

Important Notes

Schedules are subject to change due to weather, facility conflicts, or other factors. Players should always rely on team communications for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
